Jess Bousa is one of our own, a Valley Forge Christian College alumnus out in the world making things happen. Jess Bousa has a heart for those that at times get overlooked or avoided, he reaches those that some of us would deem unreachable. In fact Jess himself was claimed as one of those unreachable, Jess as addicted to drugs, heroine, and anything he could get his hands on basically. Right out of high school he began to sell drug, which was kind of a fail attempt because he used more than he sold and eventually it got him arrested. He spent some time in jail and then was sent to teen challenge where as he stated, they “serve Jesus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.” Through teen challenge Jess had accepted Christ and became a determined follower and witness.
Once Jess graduated the program he immediately came to Valley Forge Christian College as a pastoral major, although his main concern was in finding himself a wife; something’s never change. Lucky him because he found her before classes even began, in his first week before school started. A new relationship brought with it a variety of new issues concerning how to have a Christian relationship, Jess had to deal with his past relationships.
So why give you all this background when I am suppose to be mentioning discipleship? Well because all of this leads us to the ministry that Bousa leads, you see he is ministers to the painter, drug dealers, the people on the streets, the sexually bond, the recovered, the Gardner, anyone and everyone. This strategies is to just be available and build relationship not just witness, witness, witness; he doesn’t shove Jesus down peoples throats instead he lives a life that leads the example. I love this in Matthew 5:16 it says “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” Bousa is letting his light shine. There are people that may not be open to talking to Bousa about God, but they like what he is doing in the church and they want to be a part of that and support that because he has build a relationship and he has been the light that they want to be. So we need to be that light, don’t always worry about getting converts focus on being Gods light and reaching his world.
